The drawings I do could be seen as maps connecting locations where I’ve taken photos. In one sense they are, but they’re also autobiographical with a strong formal dynamic allowing them to be viewed in isolation.

There is no scale or proportion in these works, they are a physical realisation of perceived connections borne from the familiarity of planning routes and traversing the London landscape during my day job as an art courier/van driver.

It was always my intention to evolve a language specific to my circumstances bringing together elements from my day job into my creative practice and vice versa.

Driving a van around gives one a platform to observe not only the changes in the stone landscape but also an insight and overview of the current art world from the interesting perspective of the bottom up, and as such a gauge with which to measure one’s own endeavours. IMG_8857
